Scottish Wedding Awards 2019
Our team are delighted to have once again brought home the title of Scottish Wedding Florist of the Year (North Region) for 2019.
We wish to thank all the wedding couples and their families who have supported our business by voting. it has been our absolute pleasure in working with you all and we wish you eternal health and happiness.
When we realised that one of our favourite bands were appearing in Glasgow the night before the awards, it made sense to book an extra night and make the most of things. We booked for the Sunday night and enjoyed meeting up with some great friends where we took in the Temperance Movement and Blue Oyster Cult. Phil Campbell who is a local lad and singer of the Temperance Movement never fails to deliver; especially when back in his home town.
Monday morning was spent strolling around in the sunshine around the Glasgow Science center and BBC studios which has a nice riverside, futuristic vibe going on. We then met one of past our brides mum's for lunch. Its always lovely to catch up with Norma who has recently started up her own little business Beauty at 17a.
Norma then dropped us off at Central Station where we surprised Liv who is a photographer and was coming north to shoot a band and their support at the Garage. We worked with Liv of Olivia Johnston Wedding Photography at the wedding of James and Amanda in April. This was a real Rock and Roll affair featuring one of the bands playing at the Garage on the Monday night; Xander and the Peace Pirates . As we said our goodbyes to Liv; and James who had appeared, also to see his fave band, some of the guys from Bishop Gun appeared for a chat. Apologetic that we were heading to the Scottish Wedding Awards instead they seemed genuinely excited for us to be up for the awards and wished us luck for the evening. On parting we did say that if we were out in time we may pop back and asked that if they saw two very over dressed individuals knocking on the window to let us in.
A quick taxi back to our accommodation, change into our glad rags and off it was to the Double Tree by Hilton Glasgow central for the main event of the evening The Scottish Wedding Awards 2019. it was great to meet up again with Elaine and Andrew from Make I Do in Pitlochrty who were at our table along with some other lovely wedding suppliers for the central belt. Great to share the occasion with them all.
It was the biggest thrill to be announced as winner of the Wedding Florist (North region) for the second time in three years!
By the time we had been whisked away for photos and returned to our table it was time to say our goodbyes and as the night was still young, we jumped into a taxi back to the Garage.
However the bands were finished so we decided to have a drink in the pub over the road before heading back to our hotel. Just as we had ordered our drink and in came James, Liv, Phil Campbell (Temperance Movement) and some of the Bishop Gun lads.
So after a fine catch up and bleather with the guys who were delighted to hear of our Awards win, it was a taxi back to our room to contemplate what had ended up being a whirlwind of a couple of days.
It is always a thrill to be nominated as one of the best in your business and it gives the whole team a sense of achievement.
For us being a Wedding and Event florist is not just a job.
It is a way of life!
