Introducing our new Birch Archway
It was a delight to be chosen as the wedding florist for the wedding at Ballathie House of Morven and Conor this weekend. The beautiful setting by the banks of the river Tay were utilised to the full and the weather couldn't have been better.
Over the years we have been presented with a few challenges which included the construction of archways and arbors of various design, all of which we have in storage and available for hire. However we are aware of the ever changing trends of the wedding industry and try to keep ahead of those by creating displays to compliment any theme.
As such, it was a thrill to design and create an archway from Birch to give a natural outdoor theme for Morven and Conor. So Birch limbs were ordered from Holland and arrived last week. I had a a vision as to how we would construct the archway and as we have a Birch tree at the bottom of our garden I knew that we had a backup source of timber. Taking advantage of this glorious weather that we have been having lately, I find the garden space a perfect place to utilise as an outside workshop.
Well; as it turned out the Birch branches that arrived , were in fact Birch tree trunks and so my plans of construction took on a slightly more robust angle.
I was fortunate that a lending hand in the form of our middle son Greg appeared and without too much effort we had a wonderful archway created and are delighted with the outcome.
No product should go out to our customers without being fully tried and tested and as you can see from the images, Greg duly obliged as our mockup bride.
The wedding ceremony itself was on the lawn in front of Ballathie House Hotel, with the archway framing the fantastic view of the river Tay. The arch was dressed in pink and white roses, peony roses, stocks and complimenting flowers and foliage, to provide a stunning display. The theme was carried on throughout the marquee with table center displays and natural groupings around the marquee entrance and hallways. Birch trees were also provided to line the marquee entrance to keep that wonderful outdoor woodland feeling.
Congratulations to Morven and Conor from all the team at Something Special Flowers.
We wish them a all the very best for the years ahead and send a big thank you for allowing our team to play a part in their wedding day.
